Summer learning journey week 1 day 2 activity 2

For this activity I had to agree on whether bullfighting in Spain should be banned or not. I feel like bull fighting should be banned. Since it is quite a dangerous activity. There is usually at least one life that is lost in bullfighting. It is either the competitor or the bull. The competitor is at risk of dying just for the entertainment of other people. If the bull is hooked enough times by other bullfighters on one foot it will (usually) be killed by a single sword thrust. I understand that it is part of the Spanish culture but do they really have to risk lives for this popular activity?

Hey Harry, I agree with you that bullfighting should be banned. It could hurt people and the bulls as well. I like how you gave reasons why bullfighting should be banned. Keep up the great work!!

Dear Harry and Ofa,

Thank you both for your very considerate and thoughtful posts. You clearly read the activity prompt and then thought very carefully and critically about the question. Well done!

Like the two of you, I also believe the bullfighting should be banned. It is an incredibly dangerous activity that puts a number of innocent individuals at risk of losing their lives. I am particularly concerned about the health of the bulls as they are paraded through a ring and put on 'show' in order to entertain the crowd. I believe that there are other, safer and more humane methods of entertainment. Having said that, I can fully appreciate that it is a longstanding tradition in Spain and that some individuals grow up dreaming of becoming a bullfighter.

I hope that the people of Spain will consider banning the sport and replacing it with a safer, less violent activity...

Please keep up the great work with your blogs. I am really impressed both with your effort and with the quality of your blog posts.

Awesome work.

Rachel :)

Hello Harry, I also agree that bullfighting in Spain should be banned. It is really sad that bulls end up dying. Keep up the great work.

Hey Harry
Bull fighting is probably the worst sport. It's not fair on how the bulls die for humans entertainment. Keep up the blogging!

Hi Harry,

I agree with your sentiment that bullfighting is dangerous. But I also agree with Daniel and Aminiasi, in that the bull deserves a better end than to be killed for entertainment.

I hope you're enjoying the Summer Learning Journey. It looks like you have quite a few fans!

Keep up the great work

Mark

Hi Harry,

This is a really well written discussion about bullfighting. Thank you for sharing your opinion, I enjoyed reading what you thought about the issue. I think you have laid out your argument clearly, and provided excellent points to back up your opinion. Well done!

Like everyone here, I agree with you that bullfighting should be banned. It's unfair and cruel that people treat any animals so badly for the sake of 'entertainment'.

I can understand that this is a long held tradition in Spain, but I think that often people will continue to do things because they think that people have always done it that way so they should too. In bullfighting, many people still encourage it because it has been a big tradition in their culture and country. But I think it's very important to always think about what the right thing for you to do might be, regardless of what anyone else says or thinks, especially when people and animals are getting hurt.

I completely agree with your last question most of all Harry. Maybe if they could come to some kind of compromise and find a new activity where animals and people aren't harmed then we could make progress?

Thanks for an awesome blog Harry!

Dan.
