For maths each person from my group made a DLO on how to solve a question. We each chose a question we wanted to show how to solve. This is the question I chose to solve.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in LS2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Millions and Millions of people
This is a DLO of the consequences of having more than one child in China. I worked with Latham and Manu, (if they already removed the one child policy, then this shows what happens before they removed it).

Mathman
This is a screenshot of my Math man progress. I got up to level 10 and ate 59 ghosts. For some reason if you get hit by a ghost you spawn on top of it and lose 2 lives instead of 1. I died because I forgot to use my scatters and the third death was because I panicked and ran into the wrong ghost.

6 Hats: Ballad Poem
My reading group had to answer the six thinking hats questions about Charlotte Anne because we were learning about synthesizing. Synthesizing is: Prior knowledge (what you already know) new knowledge and then synthesize (to form a new opinion or understanding of the subject).

Shoe narrative
We may look like rugged old shoes, but we have a story. It all started when we saw the love of our lives, we were really happy to see them but that all ended. One day we were walking beside them, chatting about everything. All of a sudden I saw something come out of a box, something that worried me. It was enormous and creepy, the so called human that was wearing our friends ran away and accidentally knocked us into the water. I was very scared but I never gave up, I came out all dirty. That’s when things got worse, the human who stood up was laughed at. I was so scared because I got taken off and got thrown on the street. We sat there for a few days before someone took us and used us as a ball. I remember the last kick and that was the last time we were ever touched, we sat there keeping each other company wishing we still had our love. We felt...sole-less (no pun intended)
50 years later or somewhere that long, we were dug out of the dirt, apparently whoever found us must have thought we had some things that were (very) rare. We were sent to a place that look like we were on display, It was a big house, it was called a museum. We were put in this thing which had this weird invisible force field from keeping us stolen (I guess). I thought that I was a test subject at first but I was never touched. So many of those human things came over looked at us as if we were famous and flashed us with lights that were as bright as the sun. I liked how people were concentrating on me. It made us...feel...special.
Sylis and I worked together on a narrative our LI (learning intention): To use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words. We had to have one person write the first sentence (which was me) then the other person to write the second sentence, and so on, we were given 15 minutes to write.

Giant Panda
For reading we are still working on Synthesizing. Synthesizing is putting what we already know, with the new information to form a different opinion or understanding. This time it is about the Giant Panda, last it was about the Gorilla. I worked with Juanita, Tiare & Reon.

Synthesizing-Gorilla
This is a DLO about synthesizing. Latham and I wrote down what we already knew about gorillas. Then we read an article that gave us more information about gorillas which we also wrote down. After that we thought about the info we got and how we could change it to make an opinion. We then had our own opinion which was to prevent gorillas extinction.
Kyle Mewburn
Kyle Mewburn visited our school, we made some DLOs about Kyle. Some of his books were inspired from what he did. This DLO shows how he got his idea for Hill and Hole.

Japan country poster
LS1 & LS2 have been split into random (maybe not random) groups to learn about Asia. There are four groups: Thailand, India, China and Japan. For now I am learning about Japan with Mr Wong. Here is a poster that has images, map locations and facts about Japan.

Blue Whale
The blue whale is a type of mammal called a cetacean and is a type of baleen whale. The scientific name for the blue whale is the Balaenoptera musculus. Blue whales are by far the biggest animals in the world. Even the biggest dinosaur that ever lived doesn't come close in size to the blue whale.
|
Diet
To eat, blue whales filter their food through stiff, bony, comb-like teeth called baleen plates. Their main diet is krill (small creatures that are less than 2 cm in size). A blue whale can eat up to 3,600 kilograms of krill a day during its peak consumption period. Blue whales catch their food by diving down to about 500 meters below the surface.
|
Habitat
Blue whales are found in open oceans from the icy waters of the extreme Southern Hemisphere to the Aleutian Islands off Alaska at the northern boundary of the Pacific Ocean. Summers are spent in polar waters because food production is higher there.
|
Appearance
Blue whales are simply enormous. Their heart is the size of a small car. A blue whale aorta (the main blood vessel) alone is large enough for a human to crawl through. They can weigh over 200,000 kilograms! Female blue whales are generally larger than males. Blue whales are light bluish gray on their dorsal side and mottled gray whitish on their bellies. Some have yellowish bellies.
|
Endangered species
The worldwide blue whale population is not known, however, blue whales are considered endangered according to the U.S. Endangered Species Act. For many years blue whales were hunted extensively for their large quantities of baleen, blubber, and meat. Although blue whales are protected, their populations show few signs of recovery.
|
Blue whales are large mammals that spends their time in the icy oceans. They only eat krill and are not a threat to any other creature in the ocean. Blue whales face the risk of extinction if humans continue to hunt them for their baleen, blubber and meat.

Blurb-This is a blue whale informative report structure where my writing group had to individually highlight certain parts of certain colours. (shows at the top)
Synthesizing-Martin Luther King Jr
This is a poster of Martin Luther King Jr. My reading group was learning about synthesizing, so our (reading group) teacher showed us a site we could use to make a poster. (Of course) There are other characters to use, I just chose Martin Luther King Jr. (this is the meaning of synthesizing) We typed in what we knew about our characters and learned some new information about them. Which made me end up with this type of poster for Martin Luther King Jr.

Word wall Paragraph Harry, John, Mahdia, Victoria & Charlize
The temperature was freezing as if it was a sub-zero temperature as Jeff had to subdue the sled dogs from going off track in a blizzard during a dog sled race. It’s neighbouring country (Canada) was having a war. When all of sudden, a submarine submerged from the waters. The Subaltern Corporal lead the assault, his men were frightened but the corporal managed subside them. They entered the hidden subway their men dug. As they entered they felt a subnormal presence.
Blurb-In LS2 we worked in groups of 4. 5 for my group because Mahdia was left out. We made a Sub word wall and a paragraph that contained (at the very least) 8 Sub words. But it can't just be any Sub word. it had to have the meaning of under or bellow, (we're sure lower counts we even asked a teacher).

Word Wall sub: Harry, John, Mahdia, Victoria & Charlize
This is a world wall of sub, the reason why we didn't finish was becaue we had to chose words with the meaning of under or below. We're sure lower counts we even asked a teacher. (this will be finished later on)
Harry Finding fractions of an amount
