6 Sentence story narrative

For writing I was working on  narratives with Sebastian and John as they were my partners. We wrote six sentences about a image we choose. The first sentence introduces the character (s). The second is where they live, third, their special talent, fourth, their problem, fifth, their feelings about the problem and the sixth is how the character solved the problem. This presentation shows the image we chose and what we wrote for the image.

Quizizz

For maths the entire class played quizizz, but this time those how didn't have a computer had to buddy up with someone who did. I buddied up with Pote and we had it so that he did the first 10 and I did the other 10, and we'd switch. After I did the first 10 and he did the next; we decided to have it so that I did 1 question and he'd do the next and so on. Then we'd switch again. We did quizizz to challenge each other and our teacher (s.) I have given the link for those of you who are interested in doing this.

Pourquoi story - How tattoos came to tonga

It is said that long ago, the first Tongan tattoos were made from a boy within one of the old tribes. It all started when he was asked to fetch water from the river in the forest. The path was shady, the trees seemed like a doorway leading to paradise as the place was blooming with life. The plants there had bright colours and the river there seemed smooth and flowing, the birds there had unique colours. He got distracted for a moment then decided to get some water before his parents got mad. Then he heard a splash in the water, turned back and looked in the water he assumed it must have been a fish.

Suddenly a tentacle wrapped around his ankle catching him off guard and almost dragging him into the water. He gripped the tentacle and tried to rip it off, more tentacles wrapped around increasing the difficulty to get out and decreasing the time to get out. He could taste the salt water in his mouth and the sting in his eyes he started attacking the octopus and then it sprayed ink all over the water, that’s when everything went silent...he leapt out from the water coughing. He looked at himself and realized he was covered in the ink after annihilating the octopus, he ran back to the village incase more aggressive creatures to tried to attack him, getting the water was the least of his concerns. When his mother saw him she asked: “What on Earth happened to you?” “I almost drowned to a octopus” The boy gasped.

Interested in the art but disgusted he decides to wash himself, he managed to get rid of the smell but the faint imprint from the marks were still there. Which he decided to draw on big rocks he came across. Later on the tribe decided to draw marks on themselves, some of the tribes people disfigured the tattoos and that's how more tattoos are made from as generations came this is the story of how tattoos came to Tonga. The environments in those times were beautiful but now they are cut down and used in many ways, this is why those interested cannot find where he went to collect water and maybe never will, so protect the environment for it serves many purposes.

For Tongan Language week we had to write a pourquoi story(myth/legend) about how Ngatu, Kailao, Tatatau, Umu, Ta'ovala or something in Tonga, came to Tonga (hopefully that wasn't too confusing). I wrote about how Tatatau/Tattoos came to Tonga. We didn't need to write names for our characters which is why my characters have no names.

Can Do's - Word cline shy

This is a google draw of a word cline for shy. This is one of the Can Do's for my reading group. The way this activity works is by started off with a simple word and add four more, when adding words I must start increasing the meaning of words once I get higher and higher up the word cline.

Duffy Assembly

For this week's Duffy Assembly we had Henry Tuipe'a who was teaching us about role models and why it is important to read books. He was a bit of a jokester and said funny things such as: “You know those role models like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman? Well the have one thing in common which is they wear their underwear on their pants." He said: “There was another book I read which was about Japan where the sumo wrestlers wore diapers.” Not diapers that was another joke. Anyway he said that reading books helped him become confident over time and educated him. He was telling us about how reading books changed his life and he wanted to be a role model for us.

This is a Google drawing of a Can do I had to do in reading. It is another word cline, this time it is about big. When doing a word cline you start with a simple word, like the one I am using now which is big. As I go up the cline I have to add words that have a stronger meaning.

Cross Country

We had cross country yesterday at 07/08/16 in Dunkirk. Sadly I didn't take part in cross country since I was sick. They had to run four laps around the course given. First the year 1 and 2 girls, followed by the year 1 and 2 boys then 3 and 4 girls etc, up to the year 7 and 8 boys. If someone wanted to run but they have asthma they can take their inhaler with them for the run which means everyone (unless you have a broken leg or a note) can run. Those who weren't running or weren't running yet used thunder sticks to cheer and encourage those who were running.
