Un-root Spelling game

This is a screenshot I took from the spelling game. I managed to find all five words in 48 seconds (each round they are in randomized positions) and I didn't use the find words button. If I did it would say something else other than 5 out of 5 it would have said 0 out of 5 or if you found one and then did find words it would say 1 out of 5. It's not possible to inspect element it. (if you were thinking of it) Here's the link to the game

ANZAC Notes

We had to pretend we were a soldier in WWI (Word War one) writing a letter to their family. This is my WWI Letter to my family. Maybe you can learn something about WWI from this blog post.

ANZAC Poetry: Main Idea

These are screenshots about ANZAC poems. Reon was my partner. Our learning intention was to find the main idea of the poem. (why the author wrote the poem)

Writing orientation

Who is she?

She is a girl called Jill

Where is she?

She is in the grass plains

What is she running from

She is running from a meteorite being dropped.

Human
^
The day of dinosaur extinction

Jill was lying down in the grassy plains gazing up into the bright blue sky, there were no clouds in sight except for a star (Wait a star?). This wasn’t normally something you see in the day.

It was very big, maybe a bit too big, and she wondered why it was there, but in the end she dismissed it as a trick of the light.

The next day

Jill looked up again and saw two suns. ‘Am I hallucinating?’ She thought to herself.

She didn’t know, however, that it was Halley's Comet, and it was heading towards Earth faster than a bullet being shot from the barrel of a gun. It was gigantic and it was falling towards the ocean.

SPLASH!

A giant wave of destruction developed as a tsunami, then a nuclear blast, hit the US, wiping out everything in it’s path. She then saw a tree get swallowed by flames, as the fire spread. She knew she wouldn’t survive. She ran as fast as she could in the vain hope of living a few seconds longer. The comet crept closer chasing Jill. She looked back (even though she was told to never look back by her auntie). The wave hit her and everything went white...

“AAAHHHHHH!!!” Jill cried out.

“Another bad dream about a meteorite huh?,” questioned her dad “I saw you tossing and turning when I came to wake you up.”

“Ye---s it was a--bad dream,” Jill gasped.

“You should stop reading those dinosaur books about extinction, this is the fifth time!” Her dad said exasperatedly.

“But-” Jill protested

Her dad cut her off “NO! You will stop reading those books!”

Jill slumped back onto her bed “Fine.”

Her dad stormed out of the room, then Jill turned facing the window. She gasped, her wide eyes reflecting the big...red...meteorite.

This term we have been learning to write narratives. We used the picture prompt below to help us imagine how this situation came about. We tried to hook our audience in by thinking about the pace of events and the pictures we painted with words.

Current Events

This is my Current events on a optical illusion. I had to write down the title, the 5w's & one H(Who, What, When, Where, Why & How) I used P.I.E(Persuade, Inform & Entertain) to find out what the author wanted to do.

Maths quick write-how does collaborating with others help you in your maths

This is a maths quick write I did about: How does Collaborating with others help you in maths? (for those who do not know about maths quick writes) I have to make a DLO about something I chose from the can-do's in maths quick write. I have to set a timer for 15 minutes, then use DRAFT to make sure everything makes sense.

Bus strike-4

Screenshot 2016-04-05 at 2.53.04 PM.png
This is the final part of the bus strike. Oh-hsen was my partner. My role was the public, and Oh-hsen is the bus driver. We were learning about point of views from both sides. (looking at what each sides think) Combine this with Bus strike 1, 2 & 3 to finish off the Bus strike.

Bus strike-3

Screenshot 2016-04-05 at 2.52.52 PM.png
This is the third part of the bus strike that Oh-hsen and I did. My role was Public, and Oh-hsen was the bus driver. We were looking at the views of boths sides. Put it with bus strike 1, 2 & 4 and you will get the full bus strike's.

Bus strike-2

This is the second part of a bus strike that happened two months ago. Check the first, third and fourth bus strikes. My partner was Oh-hsen. We both chose roles, Oh-hsen's role: Bus driver and my role: Public. We had to look at the views of both sides.

Bus strike

Screenshot 2016-04-05 at 2.13.57 PM.png

This is a Bus strike I did with Oh-hsen It is about a bus strike that happened two months ago. My role was Public, Oh-hsen did a different role: Bus driver. I would have put all four of the bus strikes, we were looking at the views of both sides. (there's only one but we had to put it in 4 parts) I put this on separately because the words would have been hard to read.

Current events-Bus strike

This is a current event DLO, about bus strikes. My partner was Reon, We had to answer questions such as the 5w's (and H) We also needed to answer what we think author wanted us to learn. And explain the view of the public & the bus drivers.

Word study challenge

This is a can-do in my reading group. I have to find five interesting words, explain them in my own words, give the picture, put the word in a sentence and have the synonyms. (synonyms means a word that is nearly/exactly the same as another word)

Word cline-Cold

Yet another word cline from my reading can-do, this one about cold. (for those who have not seen my previous word clines) I have to write down five words including the one I started with(which is cold) and try to turn each word into a word you use for higher level writing.

Word cline-Went

This is my fifth word cline. This one is about went. (for those who do not understand what I am doing) I have to write down five words and make it so that the next word is more powerful.

Word clines-small

Here is another word cline. This word cline is about small. (for those who do not understand what I am doing I have to write down five words and make it so that the next word is more powerful)

Word clines-Angry

Here is another word cline I did. This time about angry, I have to write down five words and make it so that the next word is more powerful. (which are the words you use for higher level writing) I hope this can help you with your writing.

World clines-Happy

This is a word cline I did on happy. What you have to do is write down five words (including happy) and make it so that the word is more powerful. (basically the words you use for higher level writing) I hope this can help you with your writing.

Word search spelling game

In LS2 we had to play some spelling games. This is a screenshot I took from one of the games I played, it was a word search. I played on advance, it took me 5 minutes and 42 seconds to find all the words. If you want to play the game here is the Link.

PBS flag data

In LS2 we were learning how to analyse the data. This is a chart that shows the amount of students that voted for keeping the flag. The total was 206 students, most of the LS1 & LS2 students voted for keeping the flag. After the votes were counted for keeping and changing the flag. The score was 96 to 110 so more students wanted to keep the flag than change it.
